A drip dance down your hair
Caressing a chain that encircles your neck
Separating a heart keeping thoughts on check
Grotesquely beautified
Parading diamond tears as you crucified
Your soul with a swan story
In exchange for the gold of broken glory
With your heart in shards
Chasing truth in the faces of loose cards
You cry that you're losing your mind,
The world's hopelessly unkind,
And you wish you could find
The perfect tomorrow that you left behind
You wish you could find
The perfect tomorrow that you left behind
How your heart is grieving and aching
For a game of love giving and love taking
You score yourself on how you've been deceived
Meriting the stage as you take leave
Of your senses and begin a new season to share
Your script of despair
A sonorous prayer
Grotesquely beautified
Parading diamond tears as you crucified
Your soul with a swan story
In exchange for the gold of broken glory
You wish you could find
The perfect tomorrow that you left behind

ReplyDeleteFeels like a song to me :)
ReplyDeleteFeeling a bit melancholy tonight?
ReplyDeleteWonderful use of imagery to convey feelings that we all experience. This poem fits well with your philosophy of poetry and life. Thanks...this is just what I needed to read.
ReplyDeleteThis is a most beautiful yet haunting write!
ReplyDeleteIt flows as if it is walzting across the page! So much pain inside these so eloquently written words. A most facinating read. Well done!
wow! beautifull written, strongly delivered!! I related to this gem so intensely! I thought of my Mom, who is no longer on this earth and the sentiments you speak of were like they were written for my heart! I love the style in which you chose to release these emotions with!
ReplyDeleteThis is terrific, and I can remember a few people I knew from the past, who were afraid of commitment, afraid of feeling, scared they might fall in love- oh yes! This is great, and you describe it well. I love the title.

Everytime I read this I find something new. This is great work. I wonder if this flows right from your soul or it it took work to get it right. It is lovely. The imagery each time paints new pictures. The repetition helps rather than hinders. Lovely poem. Thank You
